I know you want to be happier and more content with your life and accept your child's autism.

We help you normalize this journey and learn to create the boundaries necessary to sustain it.

I knew what I needed when I was raising Jordan.  I wanted help from someone who lived this life, and who understood autism.  I needed to learn and understand Special Education to ensure he got the support he deserved and I needed other moms who understood my day-to-day experiences.

I searched everywhere for a place like that and never found it because it didn't exist, so I built it.

What you gain access to as a member you won't find in one place anywhere else.

  • Emotional support for YOU.  Learn strategies to navigate judgmental stares or comments from others, stay calm and composed during chaotic moments, and support your child with confidence.
  • Access to training and resources necessary to navigate  Special Education  Advocating for your child's needs in the school system can be daunting and feel overwhelming.  Learn communication strategies and gain confidence to ensure your child receives the support they need to be successful.
  • A Private VILLAGE of other moms who "get it" and normalize this journey.  The collective wisdom of these amazing women makes our VILLAGE so special.  You will learn from their successes and failures.  We celebrate the milestones that the outside world doesn't understand.

It was a priority to make our membership affordable for most families and we did that.

Hi, I'm Shannon.

I know all too well the feelings of not being good enough and asking why me.  I remember the day that Jordan was diagnosed with Autism, 22 years ago. The day that my life changed forever.  I went through years of feeling lost and confused and having no one to turn to who understood what it was like having an autistic child.  Trying to find my way and figure it out.  Wondering most days how I was going to make it through another day. I wished I had other moms who understood the challenges I was going through day in and day out. I know what you are going through because I live it every day, just like you.

Jordan is 27 now and my parenting journey has not been easy.  I made really hard decisions. I learned many things along the way, unfortunately, I learned most of them the hard way, and very often, if I'm being honest, I learned them too late.

All the years I questioned God, WHY ME?  Why am I having to travel this lonely road lost and confused? I spent countless hours learning and a lot of money on training and coaching seeking answers which ultimately transformed my life.

Not Your Average Autism Mom is everything I wish that I would have had when I was raising Jordan.

Not Your Average Autism Mom is an identity.  We are an incredible group of women from different walks of life raising autistic children and doing what others don’t understand.

Being Not Your Average Autism Mom is special and here's why...

Blair Miller - Rocky Mount, NC

Since I became a member, my son has made the most progress I have ever seen! Incredible!

The coaching has been so helpful and every week I take away several things I can work on.

I became a member in October 2020 and continue to be so proud to be Not Your Average Autism Mom and you will be too!

Jennifer Hill Baker -  Columbia, SC

The resources as a member go beyond how to handle autism.  The friendships with other moms who have walked in your shoes.  Being a resource to moms who are just beginning their journey.

Becoming Not Your Average Autism Mom is the best thing I've done since my son was diagnosed.

I am no longer alone.

Angela Taylor -  Lawrenceville, GA

Since becoming a member in February 2023 I don't feel alone anymore. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging.  When I'm having a tough day, I log into the VILLAGE and read about the awesome accomplishments of other members.  I stay more in the background but I am constantly learning something.

My journey may look different from others, but we are all looking for our village, this is mine!

 Melanie DeLuca - Casco, MI

Being part of this membership has given me so much support and information from other moms who have been in my shoes.

I don't feel so alone anymore.

The other members truly care about and understand each other.

Being a member has been life-changing for me. I have a place where I get support from amazing moms who just "get it".

I get guidance and direction on all things education, real coaching, and the member portal has answers to any questions or problems that arise.

I am so thankful to BE Not Your Average Autism Mom

Samantha Little - Hattiesburg, MS

I LOVE our VILLAGE and am so glad I took a chance and joined.  All the training modules are so helpful and detailed.  It is awesome to have a place to learn and ask my questions.

I am finally connected with other moms who understand this parenting journey because they have been in my shoes.

When you join, you will see, it is worth so much more than the membership fee.

Donna Lorman - Orlando, FL

I have known Shannon personally and professionally for many years.  She is not only the mom of a son on the autism spectrum, she has been an extraordinarily strong advocate for the autism community for years.

I highly recommend that if you are raising a child on the spectrum, you add NYAAM to your support team.

You will be so glad you did.
